Ukulele Lately Ep. 17: Reason for the Absence…a New Normal

Greetings from the Midwest!

This week’s episode was a difficult one to just be able to sit down and do. You might recall (Ukulele Lately: Introductory Podcast), that I mentioned moving back to America from Korea because of some health problems that my father had had. Just over two years ago, he was in great need of a liver transplant. Well, as we celebrated his two-year liver transplant anniversary, my father ended up being diagnosed with multiforme glioblastoma (stage IV). He passed away on November 26, 2014. So these past seven months have been filled with hospital/home visits, school teaching, and the traveling back and forth. I’m sure my family would agree with me when I say, we’d appreciate your prayers as we go through the rest of this holiday season…and as we adjust to our new normal.

Thank you for being patient through the absence…I hadn’t even checked emails or anything with this site in the span of those seven months! So sorry for the delay. Hopefully the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” is true, eh?

Ukulele Lately Ep. 14: Special Shout-Out (Chad Weldy) & Special Guest (Glenda Weldy)

This week’s podcast took a time-out from our usual routine of an artist highlight and also from wrapping up my part 2 answer regarding recording software, for blog subscriber Malc. This was a family-oriented podcast, and by that I mean it was focused on two members of my family: Chad Weldy (who turns 40 today) and Glenda Weldy (whom I interviewed…well, I’m sure there was Q/A somewhere in the midst of all that laughter).

Shout-out was given to: my niece Lauren (Chad’s daughter) for doing my opening; my brother Chad (Happy Birthday!).

After listening to this episode be sure to let me know what did you thought. Can Mama and I really be trusted to do a podcast this summer? Or will there be too much laughter? 😉 Send me a tweet (@UkeLately) or and email (lweldy@ukulelelately.com) or a oomment to the blog and let me know. You can also go to iTunes/Stitcher to rate/review the podcast.

Ukulele Lately Ep. 10: Artist Highlight (Lisa Hannigan; Me?) & Ukulele Tricks

This week’s episode focused on one artist Lisa Hannigan and one pseudo-artist, myself! There was also a spotlight given to Brett McQueen and his help with the uke community through his website Ukulele Tricks.

Shout-out was given to my oldest niece, Lauren who suggested way back in the beginning that I play my own original song on one of the episodes. I hope you all enjoy this creepy-funny song, The Stalker Song. If not, well we’ll blame Lauren. 😉 Sorry for the poor quality in the recording!

I celebrated this tenth episode with ten sound clips focused on that number or words beginning with “ten”.  Here’s the list in case you didn’t recognize them:
1) Ten Commandments (Movie)
2) The Tennessee Waltz
3) Kid Snippets Math Class
4) Speaker Boehner
5) 10,000 Reasons (Matt Redman)
6) Rin Tin TIn
7) Tenacious D Tribute
8) The Adventures of Tintin
9) 10 Things I Hate About You
10) Mama and Daddy (singing in church…dear to my heart as my dad was near death two summers ago, in need of a liver transplant)
